A Note on Life...

I haven't been reading a lot this past few days. So, I thought I would tell you why. Here we go

- I haven't been reading that good of books.

- Report Cards go out soon, and I need to get good grades.

- I have been sick and feeling not so good.

- Ummm... Twilight. I didn't like the movie, and I'm not crazy about the book, but I have been watching the movie nonstop. For instance, right now I am watching it.

- Projects. I have a lot of important projects going on right now. (they determine my grade for three subjects.

- SLEEP!!!

- I have been writing like crazy. Mainly poetry, songs, and a few short stories.

So, If you don;t see any reviews or posts in a while, it's because I have tons of stuff to do. My grades are really important to me; and I need them to be good. Also, if my grades aren't good, there is a possibility that I won't be able to go to the library for a certain amount of time, which would SUCK!

Sweethearts by Sara Zarr

Wow....

As children, Jennifer Harris and Cameron Quick were both social outcasts. They were also one another's only friend. So when Cameron disappears without warning, Jennifer thinks she's lost the only person who will ever understand her. Now in high school, Jennifer has been transformed. Known as Jenna, she's popular, happy, and dating, everything "Jennifer" couldn't be---but she still can't shake the memory of her long-lost friend.

This was an amazing book. Beyond amazing, magnificent. So, I picked up this book randomly, after hearing how good it was. I was not disappointed. I read it in one night, and I couldn't stop reading it. I read Story of a Girl last year, and it was also a really good book. The way she wrote it was brilliant. There were a lot of different emotions portrayed in this novel. I can't wait for Sara Zarr's next book!

I don't have much time to write these, so I'm going to skip the summary and get into my opinion.

This was a really good book. It took me like 3 days to read, but it was really good. It was sad and happy, and dramatic, and violent. PC and Kristin really out did themselves. This was just the book I was looking for to brighten my day. Parts of it were scandalous, and other parts were everything but scandalous. I strongly recommend it.

There was lots of ups and downs in this book. They made the book amusing and fun to read. It wasn't my favorite out of the series, though. It could have been way better. But, compared to some other Vamp. books that I've read;this was amazing. Depending on your reading style, and you tolerance for some characters, you may or may not like it. But that's for you to find out, so go read the series; it's worth the try.

This was probably one of my favorites out of the series. It had violence, drama, romance, and a bunch of other awesome characteristics. I read Chosen in one night, which is pretty cool. It pulled me in; and was pretty good compared to some vampire books that are coming out in the YA world currently. I recommend this book; after you've read the first two.

Betrayed by PC + Kristin Cast

I don't have much time to write these, so I'm going to skip the summary and get into my opinion.

I have read all of the House of Night books that are currently out, and I found this one to be the least memorable. I think it could have been better; but once I get the book back from my friend. I will probably re-read it. So, I believe it was this book in which I started not liking the Main Character. She kept saying that what she was doing was wrong, and yet; she kept doing it. I recommend this series.

Marked by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast

Another vampire book! Here is the summary:

Zoey Redbird's world, vampyres not only exist but are also tolerated by humans. Those whom the creatures "mark" as special enter the House of Night school where they will either become vampyres themselves, or, if their body rejects the change, die. To Zoey, being marked is truly a blessing, though she's scared at first. She has never fit into the human world and has always felt she is destined for something else. Her grandmother, a descendant of the Cherokee, has always supported her emotionally, and it is she who takes the girl to her new school. But even there the teen stands apart from the others. Her mark from the Goddess Nyx is a special one, showing that her powers are very strong for one so young. At the House of Night, Zoey finds true friendship, loyalty, and romance as well as mistrust and deception. She realizes that all is not right in the vampyre world and that the problems she thought she left behind exist there as well.

This was a really, really good book. It was thrilling, action packed, and gossipy; all in one little neat package! Before reading it; I had heard that it was pretty good. I couldn't stop reading. I am know about to finish the fourth book, and I can't wait for the 5th to come out. I strongly recommend this. It was excellent.

Shabanu: Daughter of the Wind by Suzanne Fisher Staples

I read this for class, and, wow, I didn't like it at all. Here is a summary (taken from the authors website):

Unlike the winds that sweep across the dunes of the Cholistan Desert, Shabanu has learned that it is not for her to determine the direction of her life. It is her father who will decide. For countless generations that has been the law of her people.

Soon her older sister, Phulan, will marry. By next year's rains, Shabanu too will have a husband. Her father has arranged it. Shabanu knows he means well, and she accepts his decision. As a daughter that is her duty.

But Shabanu's willingness to submit is tested when the marriage plans are wrecked and in a hastily arranged attempt to uphold the family's honor Shabanu is pledged to the brother of a wealthy but despised landowner. To accept her father's decision would bring prestige to her family but will consign Shabanu to a life of servitude and emotional bondage. But to follow her heart and rebel against her father would shame her family and betray her culture.

I had to read this for class and; as I said before, I don't like it. There isn't a certain reason why I didn't like he book. But, I think one of the reasons is because I had to read it for class and I didn't choose to read it myself. If I were to read it outside of school, I would probably have no problem with it. Some things I liked about the book were that I had never read anything like it, and it kind of let me see what life was like. So, I don't strongly recommend this book, but, it was refreshing.

Books Read in February (or a very bad month)

It hurts me to type the books I finished, because I haven't finished that many. So, here they are:

1.The Jane Austen Book Club by Karen Joy Fowler
2.Teen, Inc. by Stefan Petrucha
3.Love is Hell by Melissa Marr, Scott Westerfeld, Justine Larbalestier, Gabrielle Zevin, and Laurie Faria Stolarz.

Sorry about the lack of books, I hope this month will be better!
